Art Gallery Assistant Cover Letter Sample

Dear Mr. Branston

I can’t tell you how excited I was to see your ad for an Art Gallery Assistant. I’ve been to the Branston Gallery more times than I can count and have actually said to myself “I’d love to work here.” I am attaching my resume for your review and consideration of my qualifications but my love of art can’t really be quantified.

I enjoy my current position as Gallery Assistant at the Hobart Co-op Gallery and wouldn’t consider leaving if it weren’t for this opportunity that I believe was made for me. I’m one semester away from my Master’s in Art History and the five years I’ve been at Hobart have provided me with an understanding of how a gallery operates. I assist with the installation and break down of exhibits update the web site and create event brochures. I’ve coordinated and helped host receptions for both artists and customers developing relationships on both sides. I understand that selling something that serves no practical function is difficult. That’s why in addition to the administrative duties that I gladly perform I also work to cultivate relationships with the collectors that come through the door.

I look forward to your call to discuss this opportunity and will stop by your gallery next week to check on the status of the open position. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely

Jennifer James

As a highly skilled Gallery Assistant I read your posting for a new Gallery Assistant with interest. My experience aligns well with the qualifications you are seeking at Marple Gallery in particular my role as a Gallery Assistant at the London Modern Art Gallery and I am certain I would make a valuable addition to your organisation.

With more than nine years’ experience as a Gallery Assistant I am adept in art handling event coordination and public relations. Moreover while my on-the-job experience has afforded me a well-rounded skill set including first-rate time management and organisational abilities I excel at:

  • Drafting marketing materials and media statements.
  • Imaging documenting and tracking gallery art.
  • Helping museum leadership with administrative tasks.
  • Managing master museum calendar and scheduling vents.

In addition to my experience and personal qualities I have a solid educational foundation and a passion for art. I am extremely enthusiastic about the Marple Gallery’s focus on Native American art and would welcome the opportunity to contribute to your ongoing success.

Please review my attached resume for additional details regarding my expertise and career achievements. I will follow up to request an appointment to discuss how my experience and background meet your needs.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
